Essay Questions
The essay is an important part of the application process. In addition to your academic credentials, activities, and achievements, which are documented within your application, the essay is an opportunity for you to convey a more complete view of who you are as an individual. Your essay should be one to two pages in length.
Freshman Applicants: Please address one of the following topics:
- Please describe what makes you a unique individual and how these qualities can benefit the University of Connecticut community.
- Describe a person or event that has had a profound effect upon your life.
- Ask and answer the one question you wish we had asked.
Transfer Applicants: (students with 12 or more college credits)
Please include a thoughtful commentary on your academic goals and an explanation of reasons for leaving your present/most recently attended college, and for wanting to attend the University of Connecticut. If you have not been an enrolled full-time student during the last academic year, please also indicate how and where you have spent your time. Your submission should be at least one page in length.
