Video Podcasts for Entering Students

What is the important information entering students to the University of Connecticut need to know? What is a PeopleSoft number? NetID? An FYE Class? Huskymail?

To help solve these burning issues, entering undergraduates can download a weekly video podcast to their video iPod or computer. These 90-120 second scripted vignettes concisely present answers to the many questions new students may have.

    EPISODE 1 -- The Tech Tutorial
    Entering UConn students need to access the Tech Tutorial
    at http://www.techtraining.uconn.edu to learn about their PeopleSoft
    number and netID.

    Entering UConn students need to logon to their UConn
    email account, Huskymail.

    EPISODE 3 -- The Content Areas
    Part of the University's General Education requirements
    are the Four Content areas.

    EPISODE 4 -- The Freshman Year Experience
    The University of Connecticut offers a one credit course,
    INTD 180, better known as the Freshman Year Experience.
    The course assists new students in their acclimation to
    the University.

    EPISODE 5 -- The Health Waiver
    University of Connecticut students, that do not need health insurance,
    must logon to their PeopleSoft account to waive the
    health insurance fee before the 10th day of classes.

    EPISODE 6 -- The Add/Drop Period
    As of July 10th students can go into the PeopleSoft system and, through
    adding and/or dropping, make changes to their Fall 2006 schedule.

    Entering students need to need to be proficient in eight computer
    competencies including word processing, spreadsheets,
    presentation software and more.

    Entering students to the University of Connecticut will be receiving a
    letter about AlcoholEdu, an online alcohol education program. The tutorial must
    be completed before the beginning of Fall 2006.
